Happy Baby Food Grinder Redux
Thirty years ago I got this grinder to introduce my children to solid food. It was fantastic! A little of what we were eating ourselves through the grinder, maybe mixed with a…

I’ve had this food mill for about a month, and so far I really like it. It’s relatively easy to use, and cleans up quickly in the dishwasher. I was worried that it would only grind up soft foods, but that hasn’t been a problem. I’ve ground up pasta, rice, meat, veggies, and yesterday I ground up a gyros, and the food mill worked great.
One thing I don’t like is the amount you grind up is relatively small, and my son (despite being a finicky eater) can eat two or three times as much as the food mill contains. Another thing I don’t like is that it can get messy, especially when I’m trying to add more food to the mill. My aunt told me she took it with her to restaurants, but I definitely wouldn’t want to use this at a fancy restaurant.
This also isn’t appropriate if you want to make large batches of food; I would stick with the blender for that. But if you just want baby to be able to eat dinner with the rest of the family, then this is a great buy.

Not as advertised.
My grinder arrived with a plastic blade instead of the metal one advertised. I called Right Start and was told I would have to pay the shipping fees in order to exchange it so I…

The food grate is plastic, not metal as the picture shows it to be. Couldn’t even make applesauce with it. Piece of junk. The only thing I could get through the mill was a banana, and I can mash that with a fork. I recommend trying a higher end food mill.

handy little tool
I love this product. It is very helpful now that my baby is eating table food. It’s fairly easy to clean as compared to a food processor. I am pleased with this product.

I recommend not buying this product. I used it to grind chicken, and was happy to see it working, until I noticed the chicken had a gray color to it on certain parts. It turns out the coating of metal on the grinder was actually rubbing off and getting on both the food being grinded and the ground up chicken. Making baby food at home is supposed to be healthy, but I beleive feeding your child metal is not considered part of their iron requirements.

A Great Little Food Mill
I bought this for my daughter who has a 9 mo old baby. It has a stainless steel blade that works great. It readily grinds cooked foods including meats.

1/2 the price 1/100th as good
Flimsy! We had one handed down to us from another family. I retired it after the 2nd time spilling food all over due to its poor design.

Great for small quantities!
I bought this food mill to make baby food for my infant sons. I found that using a stick blender is much easier and quicker for making large quantities to freeze.
